Greetings, Avengers and Avengers Associates....
As I am undoubtedly sure you are all aware, the opening of the 2011 paint ball season looms before us all, teasing us with the joy of painting an opponent's face beneath the warmth of a fine, Spring or Summer day.
As has been discussed amongst the Active Avengers this past off-season, AVENGERS PAINT BALL has been downgraded from a TEAM to a CLUB. What is the difference you may be asking yourself?
A TEAM is a cooperative unit and has obligations such as showing up as a unit to events, whether it be scenarios or tournaments. This is what AVENGERS PAINT BALL strove for in seasons past. It has clearly not worked out for various reasons, primarily lack of dedicated interest on the part of the roster.
A CLUB is similar to a team but lacks the obligation portion. Members can still show up as a unit for scenarios or tournaments but there is no duty or obligation requiring them to do as such. The primary goal of a club is to simply have fun and enjoy an activity together with friends and others that share similar interests.
With luck, the AVENGERS will still be able to get together for a scenario or two this season. Albany Scenario Club's "Infinity" game in September seems a good candidate as always. Captain America and Hulk enjoyed the 2010 edition immensely and I am sure the rest of the roster would as well.
Irregardless of what this season brings to us all as a group, it is my greatest hope that we all can continue to enjoy the game we have all come to love so passionately.
See you at the fields!
