For Ant-Man's Halloween costume. It started life as a Pepakura Iron-Man helmet and very quickly became developed into what you see here. Materials are as follows: 1. Card stock 2. Maksing tape 3. Plastic Grocery Bags 4. Mt. Dew 2 liter bottle (the eyes) I will begin Plasti-Dip procedures soon.

I applied the first Plasti-Dip coat last night. I used the can and brush method. Messy, time consuming but it looks alright. I'd have to suggest getting the spray cans for your helmet, though, to be honest. It'd make for a smoother finish, I believe. Perhaps a can's worth of brush on and then spray to finish? I'll take some photos of the Ant-Man helmet again before I put any more on it.

So, here it is with the first two coatings of Plasti-Dip on it. I taped over the eyes so that they'd stay clean and clear for Jimmy to see through. The can is visible in one of the pics. I brushed it on, using a paint brush purchased from Wal-Mart. I may end up getting the spray can version as the brush method is slow and way too messy. Depending on how the finished product looks once I conclude the Plasti-Dip phase, I will either get some of the spray Dip or begin prepping for the painting phase. I also have plans on making the armor that Pym wore with this helmet. It involves rivets, web belts, paint and Kitty Litter jugs. Still working this one through in my head.

Very nice. The brush on method looks like a pain in the b@lls. It looks like I would rather use the spray on version myself.

I started painting the helmet today. I'll post pics soon.
I need to pick up some of the Triple Thick Glaze to finish it off with.

I'm also working on the armor that goes along with this helmet, as well. I'm using empty plastic kitty litter jugs and I plan on riveting the sections together.

I started assembling the armor to accompany this helmet last night. As I'd stated previously in this thread, a few posts back, I am using emptied plastic kitty litter jugs as the base materials for the armor. The plastic is thin, light, flexible and yet also durable. Post-Halloween, I am positive my son will be running around in the armor, playing in it and generally being a kid, so I want to make sure it is something that can withstand a typical 7 year old boy and his antics. Here's the look my son is asking for: Alot of people malign this cartoon, and I completely understand why as it is nowhere near what I would like in an Avengers cartoon but, man, my kids love this show and I have to admit that it HAS been fun making the armors for them. As horrible as this cartoon is compared to the comics it is loosely based on, it has to have some good points as it is what got my kids to care about the Avengers and Marvel in general.

It looks real cool. Are you going to make the "eyes" the same as on the cartoon? If so let me know I may have an idea for it.

I made them close but not quite the same, using a cut up 2 liter Mt. Dew bottle.
What was your idea, though? If it seems like it might be better, I'd possibly do that instead. I still have some time before Halloween for this.

What about using the smaller 1 liter bottles for the middle 2 eyes and the 12 oz or 16 oz bottles for the 2 smaller eyes.

Hmmm. That might work out. I could try that. I have his helmet up in the shop now, drying. I sprayed it down with the Triple Thick Glaze.
