Well guys, it's been a while since anyone did one of these newsletter type of things. We've pretty much settled in, I guess, conversing through PMs for the most part, which defeats the all-together purpose of a forum in the end, doesn't it? Sounds an awful lot like e-mails, doesn't it? ;D
What I'd truly like is to get a few more people signed up...paintballers... costumers....paintballers who costume...costumers who paintball...whatever. We need new blood, darn it.
Besides a need for new targets...I mean recruits...we have got a few projects under construction as we speak...
1) Ant-Man Helmet...near completion
2) Ant-Man armor...proceding smoothly.
3) War Machine armor...slowly shaping up
4) Iron-Man helmet...looking good so far
5) Iron Patriot...god, this thing seems to be a permanent Work In Progress, doesn't it? Perhaps the Elmer's Resin will be the final key for it? Currently, the bicep and helmet are serving as test pieces of the Resin.
6) US Agent shield...needs brackets and paint.
7) Vision helmet...another Perpetual W.I.P. Still need a gem for the forehead, mesh for the mouth, something for the eyes and also padding for the inside.
8) Wasp armor...need an under suit and fasteners for the bracers and grieves.
There's probably more but I think that's a decent indication of where we're at and what we're doing. A lot of different things going on right now, creatively, anyhow.
What would be very nice to try for is to see when we have some local comic conventions around our area and shoot for having a suitable squad of Avengers in costume for the event. The last time I attended a Con in costume I got a great reaction. I bet it'd be even bigger with a whole team of us.
On the paint ball front, well...not a huge amount going on there, either, to be truthful. I believe the last most of us, if not all of us, played was at Iron-Man's BBQ/Woodsball party....which was awesome, by the way.
Speaking of Iron Man, he informs me we are invited to participate in a tournament in the near future. I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on the subject but I will wait for Shell Head to post about the subject as he has more information than I do about the topic.
Cold weather is swiftly approaching, heralding the end of the paint ball season for the most part. Autumn and Winter are when we tend to work on our equipment and accumulate more gear and hardware.
I, for one, and in the process of purchasing a Tippmann Pro-Carbine...the very one I used at Iron-Man's party, in fact. Most of you will know that this model has long been a dream marker for me. I am very excited to finally be procuring one for myself.
I know Iron-Man has a deal in the works for a new marker as well. Our back line will be covered quite well once Shell Head's deal goes through.
Ant-Man has gotten a new pump marker...one of the cheaper Wal-Mart pumps...the Brass Eagle one, not the Talon. Not the greatest piece, sure, but it's about all he needs at this point as a standard marker is entirely too heavy for the little guy.
From now on, moving forward, I propose we use the Newsletter section as perhaps a news bulletin board area. New car? Post here. New Paint ball Marker? Post it here. Got a face lift? Post it here. With that, perhaps every now and again, one of us could post a longer editorial type of post like I've done here.
Let me know what you all think. We ought to be trying harder to keep in contact. Once it is cold and snow covered outside, we shouldn't be retreating into the cave and saying "See you in the Spring!". Rather, let's use this forum here to converse, plan and all of that but also, let us try to get together and hang when we can also.
I'm done for now. Lunch beckons.
